ytar

Hey all, so this is my little journey about the penilaian diri untuk calon biasiswa yayasan tunku abdul rahman(ytar)
I went to universiti tenaga nasional (uniten) with a senior (pm Mirmo)...everyone in formal attire. Thank you very much to Tan Li Fung for borrowing me your formal blouse :)
With God's grace, we managed to find the place but was half an hour late...aiyak! Kena scolded la.
After we got our room, we had to find bilik musytari for briefing...the room was quite luxurious...quite cool la..

Introduction of important people and program objective.
1.Inspire 2 b good future leaders who r concerned about self, community, and country’s well being at present and in future.
2. Nurture talents to become strength
3. Learn from each other to maintain networking beyond the camp
4. Motivate you 2 become critical n independent learner’s n thinkers who would excel in ur academic and life journey

Ground rules. Natural bridges...don't be fake or artificial bridges because it's not solid or strong.
They are going to treat us like adults, say things once only, find by our self where are rooms and places, we send things by ourselves...

Then motivational talks on how to speak well.
Intensify your life.
Apa khabar? Luar biasa. Always greet selamat pagi even though it's afternoon or evening or night cause in the morning you are refreshed.

multiple choice questionnaire...43 question about various topics like geographical, history, Tunku Abdul Rahman, religion, general knowledge and many others...if correct get 1 mark each answer, if wrong minus 1 mark each wrong answer and there's a safe option which is E. I'm not sure (no marks deducted). So many E loh...

then dinner (quite luxurious, but I had to control myself because it's masum season so no to rendang, curry and chili nor ice)

After dinner, another exam...about 40+ questions, IQ, mathematics, and many other aspects...same concept correct got point, wrong minus and E for safe aka no point.

Presentation skill and ethic talk...wise men always have more questions than answers. Golden rules for presentation, professionalism and effective writing. Emotions play a role when you write so relax and think positive. Writing is not a natural process unlike talking which nobody needs to teach. Writing is artificial skill and need to be learnt because human created it.

Eskimos has 36 words for snow...

3 phases: phase 1 is this evaluation camp...83 people. After this is interview of 50 people only and then only 30 people will get the scholarship. Very tough and tight competition.

Group distributed...I’m in group 4. Whoever stands up voluntarily first when group name is called will be leader. I was too afraid...

Find our own meeting room (titan 5).
Group leader Fast...we went to the room, our facilitators names were Tazz and Raj. Facilitators said get to know each other for 20 min. They will just be watching us. So I took charge and ordered Fast to take lead by introducing himself...wah, like as though I’m the facilitator or leader. My team members were Fast, Hisyam, Mat G, Maisarah, Fatihah, Chan, Asma, Hui and Cam...
Then after the intro, Fast took lead of ice breaking by a game of your name together with action...

Asma is from UM too( API), Martin from titas class, Mirmo, Pei Mei and me from UM.

After the whole thing, Raj asked me why I ask Fast to lead and not I myself lead?
I said Fast is the leader ma. Raj asked did we choose leader already? I explained what happened downstairs, we didn't have time to discuss, whoever stood up first would be the leader.

  
Day 2 ( red tshirt-sports attire)
Motivational talk, be grateful to God for being alive and having limbs that work, appreciate every day. Praise yourself and build confidence. Hugging is good for health because heart meets heart. The climb by Miley Cyrus is our theme song. One representative to go up and sing..I went.

Monster treasure hunt. Each monster got profile and must be approached properly, free flow of arrangement which monster you want to meet first. Collect magic parchment and treasure, find the last monster. 2 hours to complete. Strategies, there's early ending bonus, so you can just choose to complete the hunt or choose to end early...
Fill up form for all group activity (who is the major contributor/leader till last person)
I kept counting my team members to make sure that no one is left behind. Tazz asked me if I was a cadet in secondary, no la, I was a scout and St John ambulance n now I’m in Palapes Laut (reserve navy)
No rules but watch your ethics...

After lunch, we had to build a tower. 2 bottle of glue, 100 straws, 1 meter of raffia string, 2 scissors, 2 blades, 4 A4 paper were given...the tower has to hold an egg for 20 sec. It must be tall, strong, and unique. We can use other materials that are collected from around the hotel. Aiyah, thinking and building is not my strength.

Raj told me to keep up what I’m doing and do it much more...I feel like we've been here for 1 week already, so bonded.

Next activity: Role play of Mari Villagers, are you against or for development? During discussion I can be passionate and all but when we had to present I chickened out.

Fast was for development but once the New East Company gave bribery, and then Fast changed his mind.

Next activity was disabled people. Blind, mute and hand paralyzed. Mute can touch the person. Hand paralyzed can only talk but cannot hold people. Bomb everywhere. Guide everyone to get to the other side.
Mute is the most helpful because can have contact, raise someone's leg and guide it. Paralyzed could speak but sometimes their instruction are not so clear. The person who gets bombed then becomes a bomb at the place he/she died. Blind could speak but did not because wanted to focus and listen.

Debrief of disabled: In life we got to have friends to help us. Even though everyone has a weakness but we can work together to finish the journey...sama-sama melengkapi.
Stick to your principles, be sure of what you want to do, who do you want to follow/listen to...recognize who's your friend or foe. The choices you make will affect your life. Don't be on top by standing on others. You are telling people about yourself by what you do. Keep on improving.
Don't do silly mistakes, it can be avoided. Don't do things at bare minimum ( cukup syarat, sudahlah...not good).

Tazz read our resume and told us that we must spend time with people, everyone also is busy, not only you. If you don't want to spend time with people then people also won't want to spend time with you. If you feel they are not important then they too will feel that you are not important. When you got friends you feel good. People always use BUSY as an excuse. How are people going to remember you when you die?

Talent showcase.
Like American idol, enter into room one by one...I entered wrong room, then I said I don't know how to do this, my talent is writing not speaking...then Tazz ask me to read my poem, I said can you read it yourself?...Then Tazz ask which is my best, favourite and why and explain a bit about it. After coming out I felt like a loser, where got people say "can you read it yourself?" to the interviewer? So dumb!
Group 4 had so much fun, singing, taking picture and talking...we can't believe that it's only day 2 but we feel like we knew each other for so long.

3rd day: Blue t-shirt day.
Avoid self doubt, choose friend, friend are reflection of who we are..
Celebrate your achievement. Nick Vujicic video....no hands or legs...

No hand and no legs do not mean disability...not if it does not hinder me from doing something.

Daily agenda determine how successful you are. I'm not the only one with something bad in my life.

Obstacles can become opportunity ...
I got no limbs but it's not impossible. Don’t give up. Find your strength to get up. Finish strong."

Campus Proposal activity. Solve national problem, nurturing community practical, enhance leadership skill, creative and fun, and generate income, unique and catchy tagline....
Pack up and then present...

Exam: how to fulfil TAR’s mandate addressed to the youth, Leadership Action plan for 5 years..write in English your action plan and then in BM what or how you are going to make sure your plan come to reality in 5 years.

Closing:
Conquer yourself, not the mountain...Event + Response = Outcome.
Emotional decision is not successful. Everyone has a choice.
Softball vs. Hardball...will you bounce back after you are pushed/fall? Conquer your fear, move on positively.
Hati kita menerangi perjalanan hidup. Many people regret for not following their hunches/intuition. 
Lagi tenang hati, lebih banyak penunjuk. Always ask for forgiveness and forgive people.
Marble n tile story moral: terima kesakitan of diukur n the outcome is good...painful journey but end product is beautiful. When you fall and terima the pukulan hebat, endure pain and learn n grow. This makes you greater n more successful.
Emperor and twin story: A twin served an emperor, the younger one an advisor while the elder one a boat paddler. The elder got jealous and the emperor hear of it, the emperor called in the elder bro then asked the elder bro if he heard something. Elder bro said yes, then the emperor asked the elder bro to go n see what is it. The elder bro paddled hard and saw a dog delivering puppies. Then he paddles back and hurried to tell the emperor. Then the emperor asked how many puppies were delivered? The elder bro paddled again and saw 6 puppies and came back to tell the emperor. The emperor asked how many male pups? The elder bro paddled again and went back to report that 4 male pups were born. Emperor asked what color is the pups. The elder bro once again went to paddle and came back saying there's 5 brown and 1 black. Then the emperor said you must be tired, rest here. Then the emperor called the younger bro and asked if he heard something. Yes, he answered and then the emperor asked him to find out. The younger bro hired someone to paddle the boat and then after sometime, he came back and told the emperor that a dog was giving birth, there's 4 male and 2 female, 5 brown and 1 black, and the father looked very excited...
Moral of the story: See the whole picture before making decision, take time and don't rush. There's a difference between someone who is a leader and someone who thinks he/she can be a leader...

bleep week 2

today's bleep test with the softball team was level 8.8
i'm amazed by the big improvement of the handball team...from level 5 to level 7 in just one week. that's huge leh...and it's not just one person but majority of the team improved their bleep test results...that's really great.
my improvement was not so dramatic...of cause i'm disappointed la.
Our softball training period is longer but at a lower intensity. Softball trains 4 times a day. 6am jog and fitness which i am in charge of. After breakfast about 8.45am, we go to the field and practice then go for lunch. In the evening about 3.30pm we have training till 6pm, then dinner. Night training at 8pm-11.30pm. less running, more twisting and technical skill.

but handball training is just in the morning after breakfast about 9am-11am. evening 5pm-6.30pm. night 9pm-10.30pm...higher intensity and more running.

so my conclusion is that it's the quality and not the quantity.

at the moment i join handball in the evening only and softball for early morning, morning and night.

Today's bleep test was for the Masum Handball team's latihan berpusat. Every week, each team must do bleep test as our centralized training content.

busy BZ


I feel so darn busy.
I just finished my 1st year then i had a week break then i had palapes latihan karnival sukan for a week.

It was so packed. 6 am start for non-muslims (muslims programme starts at 4am...Qiamulai and bacaan al quran) and sleep at 12am.We train train train even under the pouring rain and scorching sun and once each day in the swimming pool to prepare for the Palapes Laut sports karnival between Upm, Uitm, Um. Akademi Laut Malaysia (Alam) and Kapal Diraja Sri Klang (KDSK) aka the kl-selangor navy HQ. The sports were
volleyball, football, futsal,netball, hoki geladak (a sports only the navy play), swimming, selam tempur (a relay of 4 person;swim about 50 meters then dive 2meter to collect a coin then swim back about 50 meters).Why was I so tired? Cause i played all the sports except football and selam tempur. The events were back to back...wah, lunch and dinner were the only break...about 1 hour to properly rest. Whole day sweating...Wear same clothes the whole week...Eww, so smelly. Then have to Iron clothes and look proper everyday....tired...



Just when I was about to go home after the palapes laut sports carnival ended, I received a call saying i'm in the masum handball team, so i have to join the 3 weeks centralized training...masum is the malaysian inter public university sports...of cause it's a bit more relaxing then palapes training la...3 weeks training then masum handball on the 19-25th june.


Next week i'm suppose to check in for masum softball 3 weeks centralized training...the masum softball on the 25-30th june...wah, so pack hor? This clash means i'll be alternating between softball and handball practices.

FYI: let's say i didn't go for masum, i'll still have the adidas run, the TAR scholarship thingi and Palapes Laut Fomdex IPTA, and palapes laut latihan fasa...this would have a break of 1 week in between but the training would be much more intense even if both the masum practise combined...that's much more heavy training cause it's military training style ma...and of ause not forgetting the student exchange and recently dingoes rugby team have compact training schedule and competitions so same only la...same same busy both sides of the coin...

I received email saying:
1.Don't forget i got Adidas all 24 run on 4th june-5th june.
2.I'll be joining the student exchange program from 3rd july to 29 july. 
3.PROGRAM PENILAIAN DIRI UNTUK CALON BIASISWA TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN (BTAR) 2011 on 17-19 jun at Residence Hotel University Tenaga Nasional.


i'm nervous for the TAR scholarship...what will they ask? What will happen in the 3 days?

 

Busy with so many things clashing and pack but still do-able. wah, so busy leh.
being so busy and living a rushed life may cause me to miss the main point perhaps?

I wonder what is a butty? and woodbines? Snuff? So, this is what wikipedia said

The Greasy Chip Butty Song is a football chant originally sung by the supporters of Sheffield United football club to the tune of Annie's Song, glorifying the dubious delights of life in Sheffield, in chief the eponymous Chip butty but also nightlife, beer and tobacco products. The song with its good-natured humour has been adopted and adapted by fans of a number of other Association Football teams, other football codes teams, and by other sports teams, both in the UK and internationally.

Meaning

To a native of Yorkshire the words are probably self explanatory; the words celebrate the many pleasures that can be had in Sheffield, culminating in the target of the fan's adoration, in this instance, Sheffield United.
  • Magnet refers to John Smith's Magnet Bitter, a bitter brewed and widely available in Yorkshire. Some people claim that the second line is really Like a gallon of maggots. Maggots are obtained from fishing tackle outlets in denominations of imperial pints and hence this version would not be unreasonable, as fishing is popular in the region and hence a gallon of maggots would mean a good day out fishing.
  • Woodbines refers nostalgically to a once popular brand of strong cigarette.
  • Snuff is ground tobacco for sniffing up the nose. Snuff produced by Wilson's Snuff Mill is world famous, and produced only a mile away from Bramall Lane.
  • A Greasy chip butty can be purchased in any of the many local fish and chip shops. Butty is a slang word for a sandwich, and a chip butty is simply a sandwich where the filling is chips, ideally greasy and sometimes sprinkled with salt and vinegar. Generally, a white sandwich bap will be used for the bread. In Sheffield, these are simply known as Breadcakes.

And oh, btw if you have been wondering why is it called the Dog's Anthem...Royal Selangor Club (RSC), has many sport section and each sport section has its name la...For the rugby section we have the bulldogs, dogs, dalmatians and dingoes, and chihuahuas. Dingoes refer to the women rugby players and chihuahuas refer to the children rugby players... The rest I'm not sure but i think the Bulldogs refer to the rugby players that are older in age, the dogs refer to the middle aged, dalmatian a bit younger people.

che siti wan kembang

I ask my classmates why is Kelantan called Cik Siti wan Kembong? she came to Kelantan, then makanan so delicious that she kembung arh? Nola, it's not kembung, it's kembang and last time people their names are like that, apprently it's the name of the queen who was a ruler in kelantan...Che Siti Wan Kembang (<-click for more info)

Arh, the Kelantan trip was ok la...13 hour train ride was fun la. I Love seeing the scenaries from city and concrete buildings to green everywhere and atap roofs and cows everywhere...big transformation loh...
the train ride was bumpy..KTM mah. There's no line on the KTM so had to wait till i reach the next station then only got line<-phone line. There was a station every hour.. My ride was from KL sentral to Wakaf Bharu (kelantan).
There's no electric socket so don't think of changing our phone or laptop yeah...
The ticket 2nd class, sitting seat to go to wakaf bharu by ktm is rm 42.00, then come back also rm 42.00. So ktm ticket = RM84.00

When we arrive, we took a cab to the hotel "Selesa Hotel". The cab cost rm 20.
The hotel rate was rm 65 for a 3-4 person room a night and rm 43 for a 1-2 person bedroom. The price includes tax..(owh, now only i know hotel also got tax...)
It was a budget hotel which had air cond and fan, a barely working TV, a very small and dirty bathroom. For the 1-2 person room there was a queen size bed. For the 3-4 person room there was 3 single bed and an extra bed at the cost of an extra rm 10.
The manager is a tricky sly fox, we paid full but he said he will give us the resit for today and tomorrow he will give us the receipt for tomorrow even though we fully paid....but the next day, he ask us to pay again because we don't have the next day's receipt (which he suppose to give us but he said we got no proof and no receipt)...What a trap!
Anyway, we saw a signboard that anyone of the opposite sex that are not husband and wife cannot sleep in the same room...owh, that means bro and sis also you know....PAS area ma...

In Kelantan, there were arabic words on every road sign, banner, advertistment and shop...the BM on the road signboards, banner and shop were smaller....Ah, so i guess the non malay locals also can read Arabic.

It's really amazing to see so much green and 'bare' land (bare as in no building or anything, just a plain field) and animals so free. (Yaloh, i'm a city girl ma, so all this looks so different than the city where everything so padat and animals caged or confined and more buildings than greens.)

It's very village looking la...so many houses are wooden and spacious with land and animals...Very contrasting and with my modern developed hometown "KL"

The taxi driver charged rm 20 to go a trip and another rm 20 to return.
He said he would change rm 10 if we were late.
Taxi driver was a stingy guy, he didn't on the air cond but open the window throughout the whole journey, spoil my hair and made me smell like the road....haiz.
He double charged when we had to go to our friend's wedding... "traffic jam, petrol and distance"
Kelantan jam is nothing la, it's moving ma, so how can you call it jam? Haiz...Our train was at 7pm but he told us he will pick us at 5pm because he was scared of getting stuck in the "jam"
On taxi itself we spend more than rm 60....cut throat!

People in Kelantan, your pricing all like KL pricing even though your quality is lesser than KL quality...can die la...I'm not mat salleh u know, i'm local...and you treat me like this, how to cuti-cuti malaysia la?

I was amazed to see that religious buildings like church and temples also had big space and buildings...I thought it's a PAS area ma, so other religion would have lesser freedom of building religious places.

Even though I thought Kelantan was kampung-ish but apparently the place i went Kota Bharu is the TOWN aka City... Oh my, this is the city then how to imagine the village area?

From what i heard, there's no cinema, bowling alley or karaoke... Aiyah, thank God i'm not staying here....can die of boredom... my only entertainment would be catching chicken and playing with others?
The shops all close at 6pm, after 6.30pm, the shops are all closed, and it almost looked like ghost city...Huh, supper how? Thank God got 7-11, but no McD or KFC...there's one or two shops open la, but hard to find lo.

Food, I love their nasi dagang! yummmy, you should try it!
I wanted to try nasi kerabu, mi celup and hotdog pulut but no time....cause i didn't know the shops close at 6pm..I thought like KL, 24 hours, mamak, supper...can find the nasi kerabu, mi celup, hotdog pulut at maybe 8pm or 2am...Aiyah...cultural shock la...No SUPPER? Thank God I don't stay there.

It's hard to find Goreng-goreng as in fried food like fried mee, fried mee hoon and ect and if you manage to find a "mamak" shop that has fried food, the food doesn't taste delicious...the kuih also not so delicious like KL kuih-muih or maybe it's just not our cup of tea?

worry

My mom told me to spread my wings and fly...Double meaning? LoL

I would be traveling alone for my first time, I mean no family members...I'll be going to Kelantan for my form 6 classmate's wedding. That's like more than 10 hours journey with a few other form 6 classmates. Going tonight and will be back in KL on Wed morning. I'm quite worried as this is my first time going out with a group of people and to a state quite far away. I always stayed in KL and it's like me coming out of my cocoon...Of cause I worry whether I brought enough things, whether I have enough money, whether I'll look like a fool and tiny dumb things that's not worth worrying.

A&P, and the miracle of my first semester

Did I tell you about last semester? It was my first semester and there was this one subject (anatomy and physiology)...

The first lecture Mr Yeoh gave was already complicated and I couldn't understand a thing and tears rolled down my face continuously but silently due to the frustration of not being able to understand anything he taught. Aiyah, so shy you know, crying in class...i tried to keep myself from tearing but i failed to do so.
For the second lecture...tears came out again...aiyoh, why la am I so dramatic? just because i can't understand tears keep finding their way out...

The next day after the 2nd anatomy and physiology lecture, I went to see my academic adviser and asked if I could drop the subject but he said the subject was a core subject so I cannot drop it and he said "you're a chinese, if the malays can do it then you also can do it."...Wah, this is how an academic adviser encourages arh? (*no offense intended)

I was feeling so sad and very sure that I would fail the paper...so anyway I went for his lectures and faithfully my tears would somehow find it's way to come out, I always try my best to understand but I have no idea what he was teaching. I mean Mr Yeoh is a good teacher but the subject was incomprehensible for my simple brain to understand.I also try my best to not tear but I guess the emotions was stronger then the will to not cry in class. It's really so embarrassing you know...

There's 14 weeks of lectures and then the final exam paper. Finally,on the 11th week, I managed to not cry and somehow by God's grace I manage to understand the subject...Wow, cool. This lecturer always is amaze by the complexity of how human are made and how they function. He said it's so amazing how we can put our hands in our pocket without seeing and don't take things or abilities for granted.

I was able to do the exam and you know what? I got an A (highest grade) for the subject! Wow. Praise God because I know without God, I wouldn't be able to understand or comprehend the subject. Can you imagine, I was thinking "this is gonna be an impossible subject for me" and I wanted to drop it because I was very sure that I would fail it. Tearing in class for 11 weeks (2 classes each week). And suddenly I aced the subject! Highest grade some more!
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength-Philippians 4:13

based on STPM results, I was just a C student and to reach 3.0 itself was a struggle, I never even dreamed of getting a cgpa of 4.0 in my life,
But with God's grace, I managed to get 4 flat on my first semester! WOW!  that means I got 4 A's over 4 subjects...Cool!

Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us --> God gives us more than we ask or imagine ^^

A second semester of weird lecturers...a wider dynamic and characters.

Dr Selina Khoo Phaik Lin
subject taught: Sports Sociology
She's the deputy director of the Sports Centre (Academic department)
She was stressed up by handling our batch's inability to register for english, extra credit hours and finding alternatives when we faced academic struggles...In class, she appreciates us coming early (she told us thank you for coming early). Her voice is soft that we have to sit in front or not we cant hear anything, her attitude is standing up for the minority ( a few times in class, she defended the minors). Another characteristic of her is she would always be surprised due to her innocence...it's like she's so so innocent la. She asked the class to not sit in the same place during each class...She's the type of lecturer that will never ever give full marks...So if the question is like over 10, the best will get 8. A lecturer that always had something to say about anything and everything. She loved asking students to help other students understand more about a subject. For example she asked Chinese students explain more about the Chinese culture and meaning (Smart lady, students do explaining, she understand better, other students pay more attention and understand more, she teach less). <--More of a 2 or 3 way dimension of teaching method. Teach smart not teach hard ;P This lecturer really inspire us to think, she taught us how to THINK, she inspired, provoke and encouraged us to THINK...very interesting way of giving us a soft skill.

Dr Abdul Halim Mokhtar
Subject taught: 1st Aid and CPR
First 4-5 classes he didn't attend, we were skeptical whether there was even a lecturer for this subject, we didn't even know if the lecturer was a male or female, there was no information on the lecturer, not even the name. SO anyway, the few classmates that were faithful went to "classes" and suddenly we find out that our lecturer is the sports director of the sports centre. He taught fast and didn't wait or care if people understood. Like American lecturers. His slides were always full of pictures (not that pleasant-1st aid ma, so gruesome pictures loh). He taught us to focus on the main subject despite the topic given (fractures and snake bite, focus on 1st aid since our subject is about 1st Aid, and focus lesser on the topic). His notes is mix of english and malay...so many combined language sentence that made it difficult for us to do own notes...The notes were also repeating so we have to arrange it our self.

Subject taught: health and fitness and nutrition
He has a very bad command of english, "Sports is not health" then when he explain in Malay, he meant people who do sports is not necessarily healthy...OMG, no wonder la the foreign student failed...This lecturer doesn't teach properly, and for the 2nd test, SUDDENLY his english was so high class (means sure la the paper sentences were not done by him) but despite that, some questions were incomplete and didn't make sense (maybe he edited or ask someone to translate word by word to good english...direct translation but high class words). The 2nd test was really frustrating because he ask many questions that he didn't teach nor was it in our notes. Our assignments instructions were not clear and when we asked, he would say do it any way you want...at last our carry mark was so low due to the test and the assignment (many got less than half like 27/60)...meaning if by some miracle he/she get's full mark for the final exam, the person will have no chance of an A. Just to pass the subject is a pain in the S. I feel he's not a good lecturer...btw, he's only a part time lecturer (it explains the lousy teaching, instruction, questions, explanation, marking and grading). The exam paper was a killer! So many questions on things he didn't teach and the bilingual made things worse...the malay sentence asked for something while the english sentence asked for something else...Oh My, what to answer? Just answer both la...meaning many questions with 2 sets of answers. SUCKS la..why no one check the paper la? I think he simply put the marks (a question which has 5 answers, he gave 6 marks...where does the extra one mark go to? Give example for all 5 answers? meaning 0.2 mark for each example arh? the question didn't ask for example also). Damn frustrating paper. Don't know or understand what is the kehendak soalan. English and Malay asking for 2 different answers...Grrr

seterest....stress

Siswamail (university malaya email for uni announcements) is now becoming something like gmail and this kinda annoying because now i cannot sign in siswa and gmail at the same time.
I have an option of turning on the multiple sign in app but this would be risky as the UM IT admin has control over our siswamail and can change passwords and collect data and access and so on SO if i were to turn on the multiple sign in, there's a risk that the UM IT Admin would gain access and intrude my gmail privacy lor...


Rights, yesterday was quite crazy somehow i feel like not studying. Feeling very Frustrated, I am reading but I feel like nothing is entering my head. I can't focus...I'm tired mentally...No real reason. My course-mate asked me, "Pshycho already kah? ", "Your mom asked you to get married is it?" "LoL, This is what people call STRESS la." Then she call me lame..
Gonna try sleep early, if my conscience let me sleep at all.

Lazy is the word? Lost the passion? I don't want to fail this subject and this critical thinking is a bit tough.
Come on Brain! You can absorb more, you gotta keep going, you still got a few more papers you know! You're just half way there Mfoong. Don't give up! Add oil. I know you can. You just gotta put aside your tiredness.
Don't drop ok, you gotta hang in there. Your university journey does not and should not end here,I know you don't want to regret for not studying.
God, would you help me refind the passion to study? Thanks, Love you.

Struggle through this now and you'll find the effort really worth it ok.
I know the easy subjects are all over and now for the subjects you don't really like, don't give up,don't give in. Push on, strive and keep advancing, don't look back nor drop out ok!

University Malaya brought shame on me

How the Universiti of Malaya (UM) defamed me, Disgraced me and Tarnished my image, scratched my integrity and credibility even though I'm innocent. Damaged done. I want an apology from UM please.

When I went home, the vibes were not so good, there was that stare...the one people do when they feel disgusted. My mom said to me "You spend a lot of money ya, the rm200 I gave you last week sure finish already right..."
Huh? What's this all about? No, I still have some money, I mean I used it but not all yet...Why?

Mom: I received a letter from your University, UM, it stated that you OWE the university rm 200!

me: Huh? WHAT THE? I don't owe the UM anything, I already cleared my account.

(Will people believe you or the "proof" which is in black and white? Apparently I'm "caught red handed")

Mom: Say what you want, here's the proof. *hands the letter over*

me: *takes out a piece of paper from my wallet, (thinking in my brain, thank God I didn't throw away my bank receipt) and hands it over while taking the letter* Nah, here's the proof, I already paid everything last month! BTW, when did you receive this letter?

Mom: Wednesday. 20th April.

me examining the DAMN letter...Gosh, the statement was dated on 30th MAC and the envelope is stamped on the 18th of APRIL and delivered on the 20th of APRIL! that's like almost 3 weeks just to deliver the DAMN letter. UM, if you wanted to wait so long before posting the letter then at least recheck the account a few days before you post it la or not just post it as soon as you print it out la. Save stamp cost ma..Haiz..

FYI: I cleared my account on 31 mac (with hard cold CASH)
Furthermore, the reason of the RM 200 is also in a way UM's fault. Our vice-director of Sports Centre told us to register Hubungan Etnik in the last minute. So a rm100 fine.
and the Damn Palapes Laut UM who promoted it's free tricked us and we actually have to pay rm 100.

My younger bro who used to look up to me because I'm prudent in money now looks down on me because of this DAMN thing that i'm innocent of. The respect I had is now gone down the drain.
My elder bro who just last week told me don't be like Uni students who squander their ptptn money and finished it all up very fast that UPM had to use a food card to settle the prob of students starving so  the food card can only be used to buy food and nothing else. Now he looks down on me and thinks I'm one of those people. BTW mr koko, your uni hostel n my uni hostel accomodation fee is so different ok, mine is rm6.50 a day without food while yours is surely much more lower so of cause la you have enough ptptn money to live on. Furthermore your UPM palapes allowance is definitely much more than my DAMN UM's Palapes allowance ok (refer to the previous blog post)

My "allowance" also stopped because of this damn defamatory! The family thinks I simply simply waste my money.

UM you have a very terrible management! I'm innocent...
Feels like Anuar...Defamed by the Trio, even though Anwar is proven innocent from the sex video but damage already done to his image. Will Anwar sue the trio on defaming him?

Also like a guy getting a 1 year jail sentence and then was found innocent. His name is cleared but his image is gone already because he had been in jail for 1 year..People won't listen or believe that "I was innocent" cause they will just zoom in the part "Jailed for one year". Damage done already...

should I too take legal action on UM? huhahaha...bodoh la me, a more rational thing to think is how to reach the wakil pelajar? mpmum? I want this lettering to be more efficient please...
Imagine if I lived in an evil step-family, they would use this to further mistreat me and hurl insults and attack me...haiz...

lose lose navy reserve

Study week is officially over and just yesterday, my lecturer gave us a new topic to cover...exam is next week. Woah so cruel la, last minute only he added a new topic...haiz...

I found out that the PALAPES LAUT in UiTM and UPM is much more luxurious than the PALAPES Laut in UM. Their watches (morning roll call every wednesdays) are counted as hours (get paid rm 4 per hour) while in UM all our hours are not counted as hours.
The highest my batch got is rm700 while for UiTM, the normal allowance they get is 2.4 K.
What a big difference!!
Furthermore in UM, we have so many trainings but it is rarely counted as hours but in other universities, ALL their activities are counted as hours.
In UM, Only official compulsory trainings like Annual Camp Training(ACT), Induksi camp (introduction for cadet) and Fizikal Orientated Mental Development Exercise training (FOMDEX) are counted as hours. When we have trainings in UM, about only 25% of trainings is counted as hours while we have to take out so much money to standardize everything  from pen to swimsuit.

It's a waste of money, I already got a swimsuit and they force me to fork out rm 125 for a ugly full body swimsuit...
Beside that. the Palapes Laut in UM are so smart, if you don't attend, they ask you to pay the hours...meaning, not only you don't get hours but you have to pay the hours...what kind of  logic is that?
it's like i am expected to pay money for one "shirt" which is compulsory and which by right i suppose to get free, and then because I paid, they ask me to pay again? Huh? I feel this is very dumb.

I mean if i don't attend training, by right i should have no hours (this is correct, there's no hours given)
then they ask us to pay hours back because I didn't attend training... (WHAT? firstly you didn't pay me for the hours and now you are asking me for something you didn't give me?)

I tell you, palapes laut in UM is a lose-lose situation, not only you spend so much but you spend more then you earn and they ask real nonsense requests.

Maybe PALAPES LAUT in other Uni is great but certainly not in UM.

less clash?

Ah, the newest news on the clashes. More clashes and more things sacrificed. Maybe to balance things up, i get to add new things in my schedule?

So Masum schedule was re-shuffled because a few games was taken out. Therefore causing softball and handball to be on the same time...Oh, opportunity cost...Bye Bye handball, I joined softball UM training since last sem already la. Latihan pusat bermula 29 Mei. Sukan MASUM bermula 18 - 30 June.

This meaning Hello Indonesia as my July is back since Softball is brought to June. Student exchange in Jogjakarta..but a few probs...student exchange maybe canceled due to lack of students participating in sports centre of UM...major contribution to the lack of interest might be money la...we have to pay 30% of flight tix and bring $ to buy extra food, token of appreciation for lecturers and shopping...

This student exchange program is only for sports center students but many of our seniors and course mates are holding back maybe because of the money factor?
Come on, Those who have full ptptn loan also barely have enough money to eat...class notes fee also hard to pay up...

sem break of clashes.

My 2nd semester is gonna end and  this marks the semester break of may to september :P but it's already full!
"opportunity cost" an economic term which means i'll have to sacrifice the second best alternative in order to choose the first best choice..meaning choose the best and let go of the others loh...

i can't enter sukma softball team kl bcoz i'm in softball UM team which is preparing for masum. The masum training camp will be during sukma and right now is just 2 weeks away from our exam period, so i cant attend kl training also.
the age limit for sukma is 21, and this means this would have been my first and last year participating in sukma...Unfortunately everything is clashing!

Next clash is the student exchange program for UM sports centre students which is in the month of july and I will be having softball masum at that time :( A whole month of experiencing life in Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta at borobudur :'( gone because of masum!


i was planning to work so that i can go to Labuan 10's rugby in july but my june would be taken by masum handball.


My last exam paper is on the 9th of may and palapes training starts on 17th of may all the way to the end of may.

CC trip to Klang n Pulau Ketam

On saturday, i had softball training but i went for the 11th residential college Chinese Community(CC) trip. We went to makan bak kut teh at Klang and Pulau Ketam to eat seafood. I know many people were surprised to find out that i chose the CC trip over a sport training. WHY? It's because it would be my last time being with my college CC as next year I would be changing to 5th college (I join PALAPES aka Reserve Navy ma), so i was quite sad that not many people went.

So anyway, we carpooled to Klang and yum yum, i love the rice, of cause the bak kut teh gravy was good but the rice is the highlight for me la...
After eating, we travelled to Port Klang ktm to park our car and a speed boat took us to visit a fishing area, left us there for 10 mins, then we sat on another boat to visit the fish reserve, and then we sat on another different boat to visit the 1st house in Pulau Ketam, btw it's 100 yrs old already...that's much older than Malaysia. After that we took the boat to pulau ketam jeti and had lunch then we had a tour under the rain and then after the rain stopped, we had 1 hour free and easy with a bicycle :)

The tour was in mandarin, but Dwei Wen accompanied me and sort of translated what the tour guide was saying. I really appreciate her thoughtfulness and kindness. She also shared her umbrella with me. Thank you very much Dwei Wen! Sayang sama kamu.

how 2 bonus marks brought the highest to the 4th place.

My lecturer Dr Selina Khoo called me KIASU...LoLs, I never really considered myself kiasu before but I had stamped myself as being a super sore loser, I don't really accept losing gracefully.

Ok, now onto today's main topic...Sociology carry marks.
The weight is 20% for test, 20% for presentation and 20% for assignment. The remaining 40% is for the final exam.

I tried my best for the test and managed to score one of the highest score in my class.
Presentation is just not my strength as I don't really have people skill or communication skills. So, I was 3rd lowest in class. Well, at least I got more than half for presentation.
Assignment, we just passed it up and so we have to wait for it.

You see, on my own effort i got 33.5 over 40.
Suddenly today our lecturer said she will give bonus 2 marks for those who went to batu road school, which by the way was NOT compulsory nor did she state that bonus 2 marks would be allocated if we attend the batu road school pre-training!

So now from highest, I dropped down to 4th place because of the bonus 2 marks! Walauweh, macam ini pun boleh kah?

hectic week

Been having a hectic weekend...sleep at 2-3am and wake up at 7am. Falling asleep in classes and falling asleep on my laptop during assignment. Handball practise 8pm-1130pm...woah...my body is not getting enough rest. Not eating on time cause quite busy with the University life.

Yesterday i was So tired that i couldn't hear all my 3 alarms, went to a class late, wanted to set coundown reminder in 10 minutes but instead set it at 10 hours? Gosh, too exhausted already.

Realised that TNC is not the VC. Timbalan Naib Chancellor is the Deputy Vice Chancellor, not the Vice Chancellor. There are a few TNC's.

Realised that I'm not a good team player, I don't like making decision, I hurt people with my words, I'm quite of a last minute girl.


I put all the blame on myself and always thinking negatively of myself and low self esteem.Often don't trust myself. People can read me easily...i'm not good in hiding my emotions.

college dinner, bleep

Residential college dinner. Cheong sam and make up, high heels killed my toes.
Mascara is heavy la, my eyes lashes was feeling the weight and kept blinking..LOL. so my Muscles around the eye is not strong enough? haha. Here are some pictures:





Recently, one of my coursemate, Chuah Ming Zhe got injured...My other coursemate, Tor Phi Nn bought, belanja and delivered lunch for him but Nn said I was the one who belanja....Haiz? Why pull me in the picture?

I told you last week that i would go for another bleep test, The supplement were in 3 forms.One person only take 1 form of vitamin C. There were 1 vitamin C tablet or 5 imported oranges or 15 local mandarin oranges. Yeah, you didn't hear wrongly, it's 15! I took the 15 form...it was mentally tiring la, eating so many oranges in class. I felt full and felt like i was gonna vomit soon.
As a preparation I went to the bathroom 2 times before the bleep test to clear liquid in my body (I ate 15 mandarin oranges ma...)

During the bleep test, I ran till Level 8.9 then I felt like peeing. Told myself, at least improve 0.1 more then go. So I ran level 8.10 then my bladder just couldn't take it and I immediately rushed to the loo.

After the bleep test, my stomach felt pain like asthough someone was compressing my stomach aka pushing my whole stomach inside. Crazy la...Oh, my other coursemates who took 15 mandarin oranges also felt the pain...

Ok la, if we wanna sabotage anyone, make them eat 15 mandarin oranges then send them for a bleep test almost immediately after they finish eating it...LoL

One of my form 6 friend is gonna get married in May...woah, so fast. I would be able to travel to Kelantan if there's no PALAPES training la. But most probably there would be training.

PIPJ

i went for Um team handball practise cause my senior ask me to go.
after warming up and jogging, we had to do throwing aka passing drill. I never played handball before because in form 5 when my school just established the handball team, the teacher said i'm too old and thus didn't let me enter the club. Discrimination! LoL.
I did hold the handball ball before but don't know nuts about it.

A senior threw the ball to me, my left fingers went hyper-extension as the ball hit my fingers with a strong impact.
Gosh, my first session in handball and already injured? So my left index finger was swollen straight away, i endured the pain and continued the game.

Handball is definitely much more dangerous than rugby.
the game of handball looked easy but it was NOT easy laa.
3 steps before shooting and the jump on which foot if you want to shoot with which hand. Walauweh, soo complicated leh.

Iced it but still swollen. Pain la dei. Tues 9.30pm ish kena, but friday still swollen.
So Friday 11 am-ish, I went to university hospital sports clinic...the nurse said sports clinic closes in the afternoon, next time come at 9am, it opens at 8am.
doctor checked me then sent me for an x-ray, then the doctor examined the pain and sent me for a scan.
apparently i have a PIPJ injury aka Proximal Inter Pharyngeal Joint injury. It's between the 2nd and 3rd bone.
so yeah, dr said I should rest 6 weeks from hand sports. If I am stubborn and still do sports, he threaten to cement my whole left arm.  I must go and see dr every 2 weeks. He placed a splint on finger. It's 30 degrees. On my next appointment it will be 20 degrees for 2 weeks and then 10 degrees for 2 weeks then ok gua.

Aiyah, how to qualify for Masum? MAjlis Sukan Universiti Malaysia...it's inter uni sports.

Ok, so I've been reflecting and you know what? I came into realization that I am a really horrid girl.
Really rude and always talking before thinking thus saying hurtful things and causing grief to people around me. Lousy me...
I'm always sarcastic and arrogant and lame.

EPL, bleep n shooting

i'm sure some of you thought i abandoned my blog...Nope, that wasn't the case.
What happened was that my laptop went for a repair and since it's still under warranty, so i didn't have to pay the "hospital fee' :) It just checked out from the hospital yesterday night.

well, many things were going on and it was kind of hard to blog cause the sports centre computer lab was closed or i don't like blogging on the computer in the library.

I started joining Mr Lian's Bible study class on Tues Nights. Mr Lian was Francis Dunn's sifu, so the style is quite similar. Mr Lian got annoyed with me and said I got a crook mind as in I keep finding loop holes and think too much, I make simple things complicated. He said I should try to understand what he is saying rather than looking for faults and loop holes. He told me, this habit might get me into trouble. The questions I ask are usually real as in I really don't know mah, but people think I'm trying to be funny or keep challenging people, people might also think i'm irritating and because of me the teachers are just at the sidelines and not getting any chance to enter the main topic or syllabus. One thing i admire about Mr Lian is that he is straight to the point, not afraid to say things church keep taboo. Maybe a bit like John the Baptist.

Yeap, I think too much...this is not GOOD. It's our Asian Culture to just accept words that comes out from elder people as a sign of respect. I'm rude when I challenge the belief system or think too much or ask questions. Haiya, Hilda Hew Mun Foong, you gotta stop thinking too much ok....


Volunteering in the EPL masters football was kind of exhausting and really a bad experience, not just for me but for other UM volunteers too. I never knew Malaysians can be so rude, stubborn and really OKU, they have brains but refuse to think, eyes and ears but choose not to obey the rules...I am Really sad and ashamed that these are my fellow countrymen and this is how they behaved.  Much shocking was the guards who just watched me enforcing the law but did not do anything to help me, instead they just told me, think of your safety first, just let those stubborn thugs in. Come on, they are  GUARDS but they advised me this kind of things? I really felt disappointed and lost my confidence in security guards.

My first bleep test result was  level 5.7 during rugby training
2nd bleep test during UM interview for sports management course was level 6.6
3rd bleep test for rugby national team to the qualifying round to Asian Games at Guangzhou 2010, level 8.3
4th, program Wellness by Pusat Sukan UM...for fun and fitness...level 8.3 again! :'(
so this is my 5th, exercise pre-test for senior. Level 8.9


there will be one more bleep test next week, we'll take vitamin c then do the bleep test as the senior wanted to find out the correlation between vitamin c and bleep test. So stay tuned next week for my next bleep test result ya...

assignments were piling up and presentations were really filling up our whole schedules.

Oh ya, did I mention that we got our reserve soldier number already? So, last week we had shooting exposure, we used vector pistol, glock  17 pistol, m16 and aug steyr. The guns are really heavy. Pistols weigh about 2 kgs while the aug steyr a1 weight almost 4kg, the m16 weight about 3kg, all these weight are without the bullets...wah, heavy. The sound that comes out when the trigger is pulled is so loud and deafening. It's louder than fire crackers, like asthough a fire crackers right next to your ears...the force after the gun is fired is quite strong also. The AUG stands for Army Universal Gun. It was heavy but the binocular scope gave good accurate shots. M16 was lighter but harder to focus on as there was no telescope.

yeah,another thing that happened was Swee Kit taking me out for lunch, it's part of her job scope to meet up with students and encourage them in their spiritual walk. I wasn't expecting that though.

Everyone said i grew thinner and thus lost my broad shoulders that i don't look like an athlete anymore...

A friend of mine said losing weight because of stress can be distinguished from losing weight because of dieting. Then she asked me what is happening because it looks like I am losing wight because of stress?

What to do? I got high metabolism, My food not balanced diet, sometimes no appetite to eat but when i eat i gobble up huge amounts of food. Plus I'm an endurance athlete so it is hard to be huge as my output is more than my input...

muthuku muthaga is a family movie, really nice ending. I think it's a great show. It's a tamil movie and can be watched at Lotus 5 star cinema, PJ or Sentul Cineplax. There are subtitles but the subtitles are not clearly visible and not always showed but just by watching the characters, one can know what is going on.

blacks b.

I got another haircut because of Cut-athon...it was as Sunway Pyramid orange concourse. It looked happening, about 20 hair stylist on the go, I had a handsome hairstylist but he wasn't really pro. He said my hair's too short for a boy cut? LoL, then he said he never thought doing a boy cut on a girl is so tough (shows that he never did a boy cut on a girl before), he didn't cut properly as there was a spot he missed...LoL. Still think it's ugly.
He didn't want to give me a shorter hair cut...oh, well, whatever la...if i could, i would just go Britney spears and shave it all...kakaka.

rights, last Saturday we had a rugby match with Singapore's Blacks B...
It was our first home ground game, the first time we had a full complete team. We were all pumped and hyped up, really looking forward to this game.
Rain, rain, rain but we still played. After their kick off, we had a penalty and i was so ready to run if Bibi decides to pass the ball to me...aiyak, only 3 minutes but it started thundering and lightning flashed across the sky.
The game was stopped while we were doing great.

Waited for the rain to stop, then at least it went to drizzling only and so we continued on...not knowing that it's only gonna be a one half game, Dingoes paced herself...It was nice to play in their territory, Blacks liked to kick. Tiara had a cat-fight with one of the blacks...a Blacks girl pulled Tiara's hair...Aiyak, menjatuhkan rugby's image la.
we played 45 minutes then found out that the game was over as Blacks had a plane to catch...Wah, like that also can? Ish, we were so pumped up tau...one half only? Ish, rain ar, why la you kacau us? see, see, we draw with Blacks B...I think there was a chance of us scoring in the second half, but we'll never know.
Aki did a great penetration when we did bola 2 move....
forwards did a great job,
back-line performed good set piece.

I was a bit confused in this game. At the beginning, coach Mamak said to do close defense so don't care about the wing. Just before the game started, coach Mamak said to do zone defense so care about the winger. during the game, Aki asked me to watch their number 8 in defense.On thurday during training, coach Mamak said watch Aki, if she goes up then I as a blind winger should fill in her position.
Aiyak, so what i wanna do? Go zone? Go Close? Go for number 8? watch Aki if she decides to do a move?
Oh wait, This is silly, i should only watch Aki if we got the ball...LoL. Therefore 3 options only.
I kept asking Aki who to defend? Wei said i put too much pressure on Aki that's why Aki couldn't perform well.

Aiyah, I gotta learn how to read  the game and make my own decisions...

anyway, this marks the end of the Singapore league...

asgnmt n presentation time of d year

It has come to that time of the semester where everyone is busy and stressed. Nope, not the exam yet, but it's the assignment and presentation week with a sprinkle of mid term test.

Arh, what a stressful time, being in the same group with people who say "Ok, no prob, I can do it" but ending up not doing anything? How stressful it is to be in the same group with people who give up, they say "I don't know how to do it, so ask someone else to do" or those who say "I don't know how to use a computer" or "I don't have a computer".

Whoa, Life is so WONDERFUL for them.
It's all because lecturers don't want to mark so many assignments so they give group assignments.
Well, that's life...you gotta learn how to work with people from various character.
It all comes down to the art of Management: The art of getting something done with and through people.
Keeping your cool and being patient otherwise you'll get neck pain and back pain. Stress affects your sternocleidomastoid muscles which gives neck pain and then when the stress builds up, the pain will go down to your back and thus having a back pain.

Be cool, relax, chill and try your best to not hit someone and try to avoid swearing XP
