Yes!min You'll be missed

Yasmin Ahmad passed away yesterday night...a death of a respectable local film director.
I love her sense of hidden messages and her really superb way of using movies and commercials to convey her heart out.
Every single detail tells a wonderful story behind it.
It's pretty cool.
I see her as a legendary icon in the entertainment and commercials scene.
Her creations always touches our heart and sometimes we may shed a tear or two. She ventures into areas where not many dare walk upon.

I'm very proud of her, and I do hope there will be many more Malaysians like her.
All those touching Petronas commercials and local movies like Sepet, Gubra, Mukhsin, Muallaf and TalenTime

[Yasmin was also known here for advertising campaigns she directed for Singapore's Community Development, Youth and Sports Ministry.

One of them is ‘Eulogy’ which depicts the story of a widow who recalls her husband's funeral ceremony, and another titled ‘Red Shoes’ which tells the story of a teenage girl who grew up with a single father. ]- Bernama

[Yasmin, who collapsed after suffering a stroke and undergoing surgery for cerebral hemorrhage on Thursday, had been creative force in the advertising and film industry, having won awards and accolades both locally and internationally. Yasmin's sudden death leaves a void in the local film making industry, and her legacy will be long remembered.

Her interracial love story Sepet (2004) was accorded the Best Film Award and the Best Original Screenplay Award at the Malaysian Film Festival 2005. It also bagged the Asian Film Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2005, and the Grand Prix Award at the Creteil International Women's Film Festival in the same year.

Her other films included Gubra (2006), Mukhsin (2006), Muallaf (2008) and Talentime (2009).

Fellow director Othman Hafsham, when met at the funeral, was effusive in his praise for Yasmin.
“She is a director who speaks her mind and her films reflect this,” he said.

“Only in this country was her movies considered controversial. But in international film festivals, they all accept her movies. Indeed she has became a role model for many aspiring director out there,” he said.
